If you have filled all your hard drives in your server or just need more drive-bays, then you need an expansion unit. We have hard drive arrays for all the major brands like Dell, Fujitsu, Lenovo, IBM, HP, RaidSonic, Synology, WesternDigital and QNAP.
An expansion unit can hold anything from 2 hard drives to up to several hundred drives. It is important that you check whether your NAS server or server supports the expansion device you choose and that it supports the size of the hard drive you want to use.
As with a regular NAS server or server, you can use both 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives. If the drives do not fit in your array, you should choose a compatible model or find a hard drive adapter. Most server arrays come with hot swap hard disk bays, but on selected NAS servers you can find the same functionality.
If you are in doubt about which expansion unit you should use, it is a good idea to check the manufacturer's website. If you still need help, please feel free to contact our support.
